PHILADELPHIA – Gavin Griffiths will return to the Temple University men's basketball team for his senior season in 2026-27.

Griffiths, a 6-7 guard, had a standout season for the Owls in 2025-26, averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 30 appearances and 29 starts while leading Temple in rebounds, 3-pointers made (63) and blocks (54).

He was the only player in NCAA Division I to record 60 3-pointers and 50 blocks during the 2025-26 season, becoming the 35th player to do so this century. His 54 blocks were the most by an Owl in a season since former Philadelphia 76er and Indiana Pacer Lavoy Allen in 2010-11.

Griffiths began his college career at Rutgers, appearing in all 32 games during his freshman season in 2023-24. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

He enters his final season of eligibility with 521 career points, 234 rebounds, 73 assists, 51 steals and 72 blocks.

A consensus four-star recruit and top-50 prospect in the Class of 2023, Griffiths averaged 24.6 points and 12.0 rebounds per game as a senior at Kingswood Oxford School. He was named the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Class B Player of the Year and was ranked the No. 2 player in Connecticut by 247Sports, ESPN and On3.
