Women’s Rowing Varsity Eight Named MAC Boat of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced Tuesday afternoon that the varsity eight boat has been named the MAC Boat of the Week after its victory at the 2026 Kelly Cup this past weekend.  This marks the MAC first weekly award in Temple women's rowing history as this is the inaugural season of women's rowing being a part of the conference.
 
The Temple Owls Varsity Eight took home the 2026 Kelly Cup on Saturday as they topped fellow Philadelphia programs. The Varsity Eight, coxswained by Sofia Henningsen, swiftly crossed the finish line in first place. The Owls timed out at 6:39.10 in a cross-head wind and secured the Kelly Cup by 7.5 seconds, ahead of the second place Saint Joseph's Hawks. The Kelly Cup belonged to the Owls after a dominant open-water performance. The full lineup can be seen below.

The Owls will next compete on Sunday, May 3 at the 2026 Women's Sprints in Worcester, Mass. Temple is among 17 other colleges competing in the Women's Sprints which includes fellow MAC school UMass. The event it hosted by the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA). Full lineups and race times will be announced later this week.
