NASHVILLE – Temple women's lacrosse (12-5, 3-4 American) fell, 13-7, to South Florida (12-5, 7-0 American) Thursday evening at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville. Kali Saito led the Owls with a three-goal performance, while Amelia Wright added two goals.

How it happened
South Florida struck first on a goal from Ava Uphues at the 8:09 mark. The Bulls added another at 7:06, as Kali Cleary made it 2-0. Jena Binkis extended the lead to 3-0, and Julia Huxtable followed with a goal to give USF a commanding 4-0 advantage. Sofia Chepenik ended the quarter with another goal for the Bulls, giving USF a 5-0 lead over Temple.

Amelia Wright got the Owls on the board, cutting the deficit to 5-1 early in the second quarter. Elise Grissest answered for USF with a goal at the 10:53 mark. Kali Saito responded with a goal to make it 7-2, but South Florida closed the half strong with a score from Maggie Newton, making it 8-2.

Lexi Culp opened the third quarter with a goal for Temple, but the Bulls answered to make it 9-3. Grissest notched her second goal of the day, extending the lead to 10-3. Uphues added her second of the evening to push the score to 11-3.

Chepenik kept the Bulls rolling with a goal to open the fourth quarter, making it 12-3. Sarah Gowman broke through for Temple to cut it to 12-4. The Owls added back-to-back goals, including Saito's second of the night, to make it 12-5. South Florida responded to extend the lead to 13-5, but Wright scored her second goal to bring it to 13-6. Saito completed her hat trick late in the fourth quarter, but Temple ultimately fell, 13-7.
