Men's Crew Victorious in Pair of Finals to Close Out IRA National Championships

GOLDEN RIVER, Calif. - Both the first and second varsity eight boats for the Temple men's crew team took home D final victories to close out IRA National Championships on Sunday.

By virtue of the wins, both crews conclude the season 19th nationally, marking the second consecutive season that the two boats have finished in the top 20.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The second varsity eight earned a wire-to-wire win in its final race of the season, outdueling Georgetown and La Salle who finished second and third, respectively.
The Owls crossed in 6:00.526, over three seconds in front of the Hoyas and over six seconds ahead of the Explorers.
The top varsity boat also led at all three checkpoints throughout the race (500m, 1,000m & 1,500m), holding off Philly rivals La Salle and Drexel down the race course.
Temple crossed the finish line in 5:56.701, edging La Salle by 17-thousandths of a second to secure the win.
The Dragons finished third in a time of 5:59.718, three seconds off the pace.
