Temple Qualifies Five Boats for Grand Finals at Dad Vail Regatta

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Temple women's rowing concluded the first day of competition at the 87th edition of the Dad Vail Regatta. The Owls raced with great success as every boat in today's time trials and semi-finals reached the grand finals tomorrow.
The Owls had ideal results in today's time trials from every boat that launched. The day began with the second varsity four coxswained by Laney Borg finished in second place in its heat in a time of 7:37.94, 20 seconds faster than the next boat. In the third varsity eight, the cherry and white finished in third place with a time of 7:13.55. Temple earned yet another second-place finish thanks to Eve Keesecker and the second varsity eight. The boat notched a 6:33.90 finish and finished ahead of city-rival Delaware by six seconds.
Cassidy Burns (coxswain) and the varsity four boat raced to another third-place finish for the Owls. The boat finished in 7:19.675, just 0.6 seconds behind the second-place Mercyhurst. The varsity eight sealed a successful day for the Owls with a first-place finish in its time trial. Sofia Henningsen coxed the boat and finished in 6:10.03 and finished ahead of MIT by nine seconds.
Temple's success continued into the semifinals. The Owls secured three first-place finishes in the semi-finals out of four attempts. The 2V4, 2V8, and V8 all raced to top-spot finishes in the semi-final rounds. The 2V4 finished in resounding fashion as the boat topped the next one by 31 seconds.

Temple will next compete in the first ever Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships. The Owls will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. on Saturday, May 16 for the first ever women's rowing championships in the MAC. Temple along with Delaware, Eastern Michigan, High Point, UMass, and Toledo will compete in the championships hosted by EMU. Full lineups and schedules will be released later next week.
