The Temple University Cheerleading Team consists of approximately 40 individuals who cheer at all Temple football, men's and women's basketball games and volleyball contests in addition to competing annual at the UCA Collegiate National Championship in Orlando, FL.

The Temple University Cheerleading Team attends 3-4 practices a week and 2 lifting sessions per week in addition to games and appearances. The goal of the Cheerleading Team is to generate energy, spirit and enthusiasm at all sporting events and appearances on and off campus.

FIRST ROUND: VIDEO TRYOUT
Due By: Saturday, March 29 @ Midnight
Tryouts are open to all individuals who will be enrolled as a full-time student of Temple University in the Fall semester of the tryout school year.

SECOND ROUND: IN-PERSON TRYOUT

Saturday, April 5: 10 a.m - 4 p.m.
   Sunday, April 6: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

In-person tryout for candidates advancing from First Round.

STEP 1:

Required paperwork:   
  1. Registration - email templecheerleading@gmail.com to receive registration form. 

STEP 2: 

Required paperwork:  
  1. Medical paperwork will be sent via email from Kyler DeLancey and Healthy Roster (you will receive 2 emails; check your junk mail/spam)
  2. Liability Waiver
  3. Letter of recommendation - Please provide a basic letter of recommendation from a previous coach or mentor. 
  4. Proof of acceptance to Temple University for Fall 2023 semester
  5. PayPal or Owl Club payment of $50. Please include a screenshot of the payment receipt. Details below.  
  6. Tryout Videos – Details below.

Tryout Registration Fee
Instructions for paying via Temple Owl Club
If you choose to pay the Tryout Registration Fee online through the Temple Owl Club, please use the following link:
http://giving.temple.edu/cheerleaders 
You will see information about joining the Owl Club. You are welcome to join the Owl Club and enjoy all of the benefits, but membership is not required. 
The only requirement is a $40 "donation" through the Owl Club for payment of the Tryout Registration Fee.
Should you choose to pay the $110 to become a member of the Owl Club, you do not have to pay an additional $40 for the Registration Fee.

Tryout Videos should consist of: 
  1. Interview questions - Please state name and age.  Why are you interested in cheering at Temple University? What qualities do you have that make you a good teammate? (Athletes should be wearing Temple colors and have "Game Ready" hair and makeup for the interview portion of the video.)
  2. Standing tumbling - Preferred current video on any safe surface (grass, mat, etc.)
  3. Running tumbling - If safe, can be a current video on any safe surface (grass, mat, etc.). If needed can be a video from the previous season. 
  4. Stunting - At least 2 videos from the previous season of most elite stunting skills. 
  5. Game Material - View videos HERE. Fight Song and Let's Go Chant. 
Please submit all items from STEP 2 in ONE email to templecheerleading@gmail.com. 
IMPORTANT- Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and links attached in email.
Please label each video clip and mark the video visibility as "Unlisted" when you load it to YouTube.

APPEARANCE:
Appearance is an important part of the selection process during tryouts; candidates should always be 'game ready' throughout the tryout process.  As a Temple Cheerleader you are always in front of a crowd at appearances, on television during games or participating in on-field/court promotions.

Females: Makeup done and hair styled as you would on Game Day. Wear a t-shirt/tank, cheer shorts (both in Temple colors), white socks and cheer sneakers. 
Males: Clean shaven. T-shirt and gym shorts (both in Temple colors), white socks and athletic sneakers.

Females: standing tuck, elite running tumbling pass on mat, running tumbling on hardwood floor
Males: standing tuck preferred

PARTNER STUNTS:

All Girl: heel stretch, full down/double down; full up variation; inversion; shoulder stand (top or base)
Co-Ed: walk-in chair and hands; toss chair, hands and extension; shoulder stand; transition sequence
