TEMPLE ATHLETICS STUDENT-ATHLETE GROUPS

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is intended to serve the following purposes:
  • Act as a liaison between the athletic administration and the student-athlete body by providing a student-athlete voice within the department discussing issues and concerns, and providing feedback as necessary.
  • Vote and provide input on NCAA Legislation.
  • Serve in a leadership role to recruit fellow student-athletes to engage with the larger campus North Philadelphia community through service programs and events.

Mission Statement: Temple University Owls For Justice is a group created by student-athletes, that will always stand and work for what is right. Owls For Justice is committed to identifying, dismantling, and eradicating any forms of hate and injustice. Using our platform as intercollegiate athletes, we will raise awareness and combat these issues not only at the level of our university but within the NCAA, the City of Philadelphia, and our nation. Owls For Justice will act as the initial mediators in matters that involve any instances of hate and prejudice beginning with our athletic department. Through collaborations with faculty, staff, campus, and local resources, we will be facilitating discussions, educating peers and mentors, providing resources, and establishing initiatives to directly eliminate these injustices. Our purpose is to make Temple University, our community, and our world a better place through our actions. We will be the change we want to see on this earth. We will always lead by example. We will emulate true Greatness and always move in Love. #GDQ

Mission Statement: Black Student-Athlete Union was created to provide a safe space and support system beyond Temple's individual sports teams for black student-athletes to connect as well as discuss and find solutions to the unique obstacles we face: as we are not student-athletes who happen to be black, but black students who happen to be athletes. We aim to foster unity among black student-athletes through both fun and educational events where we can feel comfortable, seen, heard, and supported, as well as partaking in community service aimed at uplifting the black community around us. We are committed to advocating for and being the voice of black student-athletes here at Temple.
