Calvin Powell begins his first season at Temple as a graduate assistant working with the offense.

Powell comes to Philadelphia after one season at SUNY Maritime College where he was running back coach and video coordinator. Prior to that he spent one year at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in Austin, TX. He joined the Crusaders as the football offensive line coach in 2013 and was also assisting with men’s basketball. He arrived at St. Michael’s after spending one year as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Green Hill School in Dallas. Prior to Green Hill, Powell spent two years at Langston University, first as the graduate assistant running back coach where he instructed Carlos Ross, the Lions’ all-time leading rusher, and second as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. Before that, he spent one year coaching tight ends and running backs at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and one year coaching offensive line at Green Hill School.

Powell played at Duncanville High School before going on to Hampton University and then to Southwestern College (Kansas) where he was a letter winner. He is a graduate of Southwestern College with a B.S. degree in sports management and completed his master’s degree in educational leadership from Langston University.
