John Loughery begins his first season as a graduate assistant coach for Temple University in 2016. He will be working with the offensive line.
The Wayne, Pa., native came home to Philadelphia in 2015 to play his senior year for the Owls. He spent the season as the #3 quarterback and appeared in one game (Tulane). He made the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team on his way to earning his degree in communication studies.
He began his college career at Elon (N.C.) University where he received All-SoCon honors in 2013. Loughery saw action in 11 games from 2013-14, completing 33 of his 58 passes for 284 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
A three-year starter at William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, Loughery graduated as the leading passer in school history with 4,950 yards and 48 touchdowns.
Loughery comes from a football family – his father, John, played at Boston College; his cousin is Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan.
