Ricky Ortega joined the Owls as a special teams’ graduate assistant in 2026. As such, he works with Brian Ginn, John Fisher and Rick Baker on all facets of the Temple special teams’ units.
 
The Coatesville, Pa., native set the Pennsylvania State record for career touchdowns with 179 and finished his high school career at Coatesville High as the all-time leading passer in the Ches-Mont League, the District and among Pennsylvania Big Schools. He was named the Pennsylvania State Player of the Year and the Michael Payton Quarterback of the Year as a senior, and was a three-time first team all-state performer.
 
He began his college career as a quarterback at Villanova before transferring to Central Connecticut State prior to his junior season. He earned his undergraduate degree in criminal justice and also earned a master’s in technology management at CCSU.
