Marcus Berry joined the Temple Football staff in March 2023 as Chief of Staff. He was moved to the role of Director of Player Personnel in May, 2024, where he can spearhead the program's recruiting processes.
Prior to Temple, Berry spent six years as Maryland's director of recruiting. During that time, Maryland signed five top-35 recruiting classes including the number 18 class in 2021.
Berry went to Maryland from Rutgers, where he served as the director of player personnel. He previously served in the same role at Illinois and North Carolina.
While at Illinois, Berry was responsible for coordinating recruiting efforts, including the arrangement and management of on-campus visits. He also maintained the program’s video database for prospects.
At UNC, Berry was a member of a coaching staff that signed two consecutive top-25 recruiting classes. He handled all game-day recruiting operations and monitored top prospects.
Berry began his coaching career at Friendly High School in Ft. Washington, Md. He spent 11 years at Friendly where he served various roles, including assistant head coach, offensive coordinator as well as quarterbacks and wide receivers coach. Friendly won three state championships during his tenure.
Berry completed two player personnel and scouting internships in the NFL - with the Green Bay Packers in 2003 (on the same staff as Temple head coach Stan Drayton) and the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Berry played football at West Virginia and graduated in 1990 with a degree in sports management.
Berry and his wife, Anita, have been married since 2011.
