Nathan McNeal joined the Temple Football staff as director of player personnel following three years as director of high school relations at the University of Illinois. Day-to-day, McNeal oversees all recruiting efforts for Temple Football and helps locate, identify, and evaluate initial prospective student-athletes. 

In 2020, McNeal and the football staff helped secure a top 85 recruiting class and the seventh best in the American Athletic Conference.

At Illinois, he assisted with the management of all on-campus recruiting and coordinated all camps and clinics for the football program. According to 247 Sports, McNeal helped sign a Top 55 recruiting class in 2017, 2018, and 2019. McNeal went to Illinois after spending three years in various roles at his alma mater, Northern Illinois, under head coach Rod Carey. He was a graduate assistant for football operations and video for two seasons before being promoted to director of player personnel for one season.

McNeal played at Northern Illinois from 2011-13. He played in 16 games, including 13 as a redshirt senior in 2013. McNeal helped the 2013 Huskies team to the Poinsettia Bowl.

McNeal graduated from Northern Illinois with a degree in communications in 2013 and completed a masters in sports management in 2015.
