Shawn Cameron joined the Temple University Athletics staff as an assistant athletic trainer in August, 2011. In his role he coordinates the immediate medical needs of the men's basketball program. His primary duties include the prevention, evaluation, and treatment, of sports-related injuries with an emphasis on design and implementation of therapeutic rehabilitation, performance enhancement training, and recovery. Since arriving on North Broad, Cameron has been a part of the men's basketball program's regular season conference titles in 2011-2012, (Atlantic 10) and 2015-2016, (American) along with post-season tournament appearances in the NCAAs in 2012, 2013, and 2016 and NIT in 2015 and 2018.

Cameron came to Philadelphia from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. At Ohio, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the baseball program (2010-2011) and men's and women's cross country and track and field programs (2009-2010). In addition, Cameron also assisted with the Bobcats' football program that went on to be co-champions with the Temple Owls for the 2009 MAC East Division Title and the men's basketball program that made the 2010 NCAA tournament.

While at Ohio, Cameron earned his master of science degree in athletic training, authored a master's thesis entitled, "Focal Wrist Cooling Does Not Alter Indices of Spinal Excitability in the Flexor Radialis Muscle," and was named the Outstanding Graduate Student in his CAATE accredited Post-Professional Graduate Athletic Training Program. He completed his undergraduate studies at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. At Plymouth, he received his bachelor of science degree in athletic training and minor in sports physiology. His clinical rotations as an athletic training student included working with the 2008 NEFC Champion and NCAA tournament football program, men's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, softball, women's basketball, and field hockey programs. During his time at Plymouth State, he was President of the Athletic Training Club and also volunteered as an aide in the medical tent for the Boston Athletic Association's 113th Annual Boston Marathon.

A native of Boston, Mass., Cameron is licensed to practice from the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and is certified from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer. He holds a Performance Enhancement Specialization from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is CPR/AED certified from the American Heart Association. Cameron is an active member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society, Eastern Athletic Trainer's Association, and National Athletic Trainers' Association.
