Former Owl standout and All-American on vault, Theo Maes returns in his fourth season to help his alma mater pursue ECAC and NCAA success. Maes attended Temple from 1999-04, competing for the Owls in each season except 2002-03, when and injury forced him to sit out.

The following year, in his senior season, he placed third on vault at the NCAA?Championships. Also competing on the floor exercise, he gained notoriety by performing a tucked double front-tucked, front-tucked front 1 3/4, and is the only United States competitor known to have performed this skill sequence. Along the way, he earned medals in three of his four ECAC?Championships.

Graduating with a degree in elementary education, he returned to his native Chicago in 2004, and taught gymnasitcs and worked with an after-school recreation program. In addition, he was the coach for the Northwestern University women’s and men’s club teams. Currently, he is the head optional coach for the Temple boy’s team.
