John Amorim is in his second year as an assistant coach with the Temple University men's soccer team. A veteran soccer coach, Amorim has been coaching at the intercollegiate level since 1984. At Temple he will work primarily with the team's goalkeepers and defense.
Amorim previously served five years as the head men's soccer coach at Holy Family College. At Holy Family, he compiled a 48-44-6 overall record, advancing to conference playoffs four times and the championship match twice.
Prior to his stint at Holy Family, Amorim served as an assistant coach with the Temple women's soccer program for three seasons (1994-97), working mainly with the team's goalkeepers. He also coached one season (1988) as an assistant coach with the men's team at Spring Garden College and one season (1984) as the head women's soccer coach at Bryn Mawr College.
Amorim has been active at both the high school and youth levels as well throughout his 20-plus years of coaching. At the high school level, he had served as the head coach at St. James ('85-86), Chaminade College Prep ('86-87), Conwell-Egan ('91-93) and as an assistant coach Archbishop Ryan ('97-04). He has also been the goalkeeper coach for the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association ('85-93) as well as a head coach with EPYSA since 1992. He currently serves as the Director of Goalkeeping for EPYSA.
A 1983 graduate of Lynchburg College where he was a First Team All-America goalkeeper, Amorim owns a Class A license through the United States Soccer Federation.
