Julian Fernandez

Julian Fernandez joined the Temple men’s soccer staff in 2017 as a volunteer coach. Prior to Temple, he aided the Chestnut Hill College coaching staff as an assistant for the 2014 season. He then started as head coach in 2015 where he led the Chestnut Hill Griffins to a 21-27-4 overall record. While at Chestnut Hill he coached four All-Conference players, four All-Tournament players, and one two-time regional All-American.
Fernandez served on staff for the Atlantic Soccer Factory (2010-2012) and Spirit United Soccer Club (2011-2013), before working with Continental Football Club (2013-present). While at Spirit United Soccer Club, he assisted their Boys U16 squad to an Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) Challenge Cup championship in 2013. Fernandez was also a member of the coaching staff at Cardinal O’Hara High School (2012) before going on to become the head coach of the varsity boys’ soccer program at Downingtown East High School for the 2013 season. Fernandez holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Diploma as well as a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “C” License.
Fernandez became a key member of the Chestnut Hill College men’s soccer team immediately after transferring from a successful freshman season at Rutgers-Camden. Despite playing only three years as a Griffin, he ranks eighth all-time in program history in starts (49) and 10th in minutes (3,415). He scored his first career goal as a senior and added a pair of assists for his career. Fernandez served as team captain as a senior and received the Coach’s Award following the season (2010). Following his collegiate career at Chestnut Hill College, Fernandez played for the Atlantic City (AC) Crusaders and Philadelphia Fury of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
A three-time member of the CACC All-Academic Team and two-time member of the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Academic Honor Roll, Fernandez was also a Division II Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Academic Achiever (2009-2010) before graduating from Chestnut Hill College with a bachelor’s degree in history. Fernandez earned a master’s degree in higher education athletic administration from Messiah College. He was named to the 2015-2016 NSCAA/ USC 30 Under 30 class and holds a USSF B License and NSCAA/ USC Premier diploma. Additionally, he has served on the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer staff and is currently a member of the United Soccer Club Staff. Fernandez currently resides in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
