Nitan Soni is in his first season as an assistant men's soccer coach. Soni joins the Temple staff after serving the past two years as an assistant coach at Wesley College.(DE). Soni helped Division III Wesley to a 14-2-0 record and a Top 5 regional ranking last season. Prior to his time at Wesley, where he earned a Master's degree in Education with a specialty in Mathematics, Soni spent two years helping the Rutgers Scarlet Knights with their day-to-day training and office management. Soni started playing competitive soccer at the age of 14 with amateur clubs in his home town of Halesowen, Birmingham (UK). He was called up by several semi-professional clubs and by the age of 16 had represented both his district and county teams. He continued his playing career at high school as a central defender and captained the school team to a double winning season with cup and conference win in 1996. After a brief spell with W.B.A of the EPL he decided to pursue his education and gained 3 "A" levels at Halesowen College (UK) while playing for the men's team and wining the college north division conference as a senior. Soni then moved to London to continue his education and completed a joint bachelor's degree in computer science and media while playing competitive soccer for the Middlesex University first team. After graduating, Soni devoted his time to becoming a soccer coach helping with recreational and travel programs in his hometown. He got his first championship title with Greenhill Youth Club who went on to the final of the West Midlands Youth Cup in 2001. Soni's first visit to the US was in 2000 when he was hired as the director of soccer at Winaukee Island Camp (NH). He spent six years at Winaukee, planning and organizing activities for boys aged 13-15 and had built the program into one of the most competitive in the lakes region. Soni has been involved with youth sports since his arrival in the US. He has already seen success at the state and regional level and continues his training and coaching with CDSA He currently resides in Dover Delaware with his wife Amy and step daughter Kaitlyn.
