Wendell Beres, who spent the 2000 and 2001 seasons as a player for the Owls, enters his second season as an assistant coach on 14-year head coach David MacWilliams' staff. Beres joins the Temple sideline after spending the previous four seasons as head coach at Pennsylvania powerhouse, Council Rock North High School. While at North, Beres amassed an overall record of 59-17-8, including three Conference Championships, and a PA State Semi-Final appearance. Council Rock North spent numerous weeks on the ESPN National Rankings, reaching as high as No. 3 in 2009.
Prior to his stint at Council Rock, Beres spent one season as the top assistant at nearby Delaware Valley College in 2007. From 2004-2006, he was an assistant coach at Central Bucks West HS.
As a player, Beres is a product of North Catholic H.S., in Philadelphia. Beres was team captain in 1999, where he was an All-League selection and Catholic League Champion. Following his time at North Catholic, Beres played on the first two of Dave MacWilliams’ TU squads before transferring to Holy Family University for financial reasons. He spent two seasons on the pitch at Holy Family. He graduated with a degree in Marketing in May of 2005.
In addition to coaching at Temple, Beres is a coach at Montgomery United Soccer Club and is an ODP staff coach for Eastern Pennsylvania.
Beres holds a National ‘B’ License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and assists with all aspects of the program.
He currently resides in Lansdale, PA with his wife Kate and their three daughters, Riley, Avery and Bailey.
