Former Temple volleyball standout Alyssa Drachslin joined the Temple Athletics staff as the Coordinator for Leadership and Professional Development in February 2018.
Drachslin is the Resnick Center’s first Coordinator for Leadership and Professional Development. In this position, she will be responsible for creating innovative leadership trainings and programs, while expanding upon the career development initiative the center already has running.
Drachslin comes back to Temple from Seattle, Wash. where she worked for Beyond Sports, an organization dedicated to creating international travel opportunities for student athletes. While on the Beyond Sports team, she helped create a new branch, Student-Athletes Abroad, that focuses on longer and more academic based programs.
Drachslin was a member of the Owls volleyball team for four years and served as team captain for two. In 2015, she was named to the Academic All-Area team after ranking 28th in Division I with 5.02 digs per set, compiling over 1,500 digs in her career. She finished her undergraduate degree with a 3.90 GPA, earning her the Trustee Ten Award three different times for having a top ten GPA in Temple’s athletic department. She was named Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2016, and was nominated to be Woman of the Year in 2015.
Drachslin has spent a great deal of time representing student athletes, as she was named the American Athletic Conference Representative on the NCAA Division I National Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She also served as the president of Temple’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Drachslin graduated from Temple in 2015 with a B.A. in Political Science, then finished out her career at Temple in 2016 completing a M.S. in Globalization and Development Communication.
