Emily Maxwell is a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA where she rowed on the club rowing team. Her novice 4+ went undefeated throughout the regular season, with a finals appearance in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Championship. In her varsity year she went on to a first-place finish at Head of the Hooch regatta that fall. After 2 years of rowing for her university, she joined the pre-elite rowing program out of the Atlanta Rowing Club. Going on to compete at Head of the Charles, Atlanta Erg Sprints, Club Nationals and Canadian Henley in various sculling boats.

In 2013, she moved to Philadelphia to pursue her national team goals. She rowed out of Vesper Boat Club as a member of their high performance team for 4+ years. Going on to race at USRowing speed order and national team trials, HOCR, HOSR, and World University Games in Guangzhou, China. 

Most recently, she was the club manager at the Atlanta Rowing Club managing boathouse logistics, equipment, programs, trailer logistics, administrative and IT and all day-to-day operations. She transformed all facility, equipment and record keeping systems while at the club. Also, while in Atlanta, she was the Head Coach at Georgia Institute of Technology, leading the varsity men’s and women’s programs in her first season officially with the team. That first year she led the team to medal finishes in the women’s varsity 4+ and men’s varsity 4+ at Head of the Schyulkill, Head of the Hooch, and SIRA. Then going on to lead both squads to medal finishes at various fall and spring regattas the following year.

Prior to GT and ARC, she worked with Orlando Area Rowing Society and Sarasota Scullers in Florida. Leading Sarasota Scullers lightweight girls 8+ to their first state championship win and national appearance in over 10 years along with state championship wins in the girls freshman 2x, boys varsity 2x and girls varsity 2-.

At Georgia State, Maxwell completed her degree in Exercise Science. Adding to her athletic background and experience.

Maxwell graduated from Roswell High School in 2007, a 4 year varsity athlete on the Tennis team and 1 year on the Cross Country team. Spending weekends and summers competing at tennis tournaments around the country."
