First Look for TUWBB at Saturday's Exhibition

PHILADELPHIA -- Fans will have their first opportunity to check out the 2017-18 Temple women's basketball team on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at McGonigle Hall. The Owls will play an exhibition game against the University of Charleston. Admission is free.

THE OWLS
> Temple went 24-8 a year ago, culminating the season in the NCAA Tournament.
> The Owls finished 13-3 in the American Athletic Conference, ranking second behind only UConn.
> Temple defeated all four local rivals to capture the 2017 Philadelphia Big 5 Championship.

RETURNERS
> Temple's top returner is senior Tanaya Atkinson, who averaged 13.0 pints and a team-best 8.7 rebounds per game.
> Atkinson was named the American Sixth Player of the Year.
> Senior Alliya Butts will miss the 2017-18 season due to injury, but is expected to return for a fifth year n 2018-19.
> Senior Khadijah Berger was one of the Owls' top three point threats last year, connecting for 37.
> Sophomores Shantay Taylor (1.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg) and Shannen Atkinson (0.7 ppg, 1.6 rpg) return with size for the Owls.

NEWCOMERS
> Temple welcomes a host of new players to the mix for the 2018-19 season.
> Freshman Mia Davis averaged a double-double on the Owls' three-game Europe trip.
> Freshman Desiree Oliver (9.0 ppg) and graduate transfer Mykia Jones (8.3 ppg) also aided the offense in Europe.
> Freshmen guards Emani Mayo and Breanna Perry also provide depth in the back court.

CHARLESTON
> The University of Charleston finished 12-19 last season.
> The Golden Eagles were eighth in the MEC a year ago, but advanced to the tournament semifinals.
> Charleston was picked to finished fifth in the conference in the preseason poll.

OWLS SEASON OPENER
> Temple will open the 2018-19 season on Friday, November 10th.
> The Owls will take on Delaware State at 7:00 p.m. at McGonigle Hall.
