England native Ross Gilham-Jones joined the Temple field hockey staff as an assistant coach starting in mid-September of the 2018 season, and served as interim head coach from November, 2018 until January, 2019. Gilham-Jones, who works primarily with the team's attack, had previously been coaching the Pottstown-based WC Eagles field hockey club.
An extremely accomplished player internationally, Gilham-Jones played for England's U16, U18 and U21 National Teams from 2007-13 before being selected to the Great Britain program in the lead-up to the Rio Olympic Games. His U21 team achieved a silver medal at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival. He captained the U18 and U21 teams and scored a hat trick against Scotland in the European U21 Championships.
He was named 2013 Sportsman of the Year at Canterbury Christchurch University where he graduated from in 2015, and also played for Canterbury in the English Hockey League from 2013-15. Following graduation, Gilham-Jones played for the YMCC Hockey Club (2015-16) where he and his teammates won the league title and played for Doncaster Hockey Club (2016-17) in Australia's Premier League where they finished in second place.Â
Gilham-Jones founded the Australia-based LEAP Hockey Academy and has served as director and head coach since 2015, providing sessions for athletes to learn, enjoy, achieve and progress (LEAP) to the next level.
