Rick Reed

One of the top point guards in the storied history of Temple men’s basketball, Rick Reed (1975-79) captained the Owls’ 1978-79 NCAA Tournament team.
During that campaign, Reed capped his fine career with personal best averages of 15.7 points and 7.2 assists per game that season while leading the Owls to a 25-4 record. The two-time team captain earned Philadelphia Big 5 co-MVP and first team All-East Coast Conference and all-District honors that season.
His 208 assists shattered the previous school mark held by the late Guy Rodgers (185, 1956-57) and still rank second on the Temple single season list while his 7.2 assist average, also a record, is currently third. He finished his career with 564 assists, third all-time, and 1,031 points.
