Women's Basketball Falls To The Hokies, 59-54

Philadelphia - The Temple women's basketball team battled Virginia Tech tough but

fell to the Hokies, 59-54, Friday night at The Apollo. The Owls were led by

Lisa Jakubowicz who scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Junior Natalia Isaac

added 10 points.

It was a hard-fought contest as both teams battled back-and-forth throughout the game.

Virginia Tech had a 26-24 halftime lead. The Hokies would build their lead to as many

as nine points in the second half before the Owls clawed their way back and cut the

lead to 56-54 with 1:47 remaining. However, Temple would get no closer and lose the

contest, 59-54.

The Hokies crashed the boards and outrebounded the Owls, 35-27. Virginia Tech also

outshot Temple from the free throw line going 21-for-25 from the charity stripe.

Temple struggled from the line hitting only 13-of-23 free throws.

With the loss, Temple falls to 5-12 and 0-6 in the conference. Virginia Tech improves

to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the A-10.
