The Temple Owls (4-4, 1-3) enjoyed a bye this past week and face the
Eagles of Boston College (4-3, 1-3) on Saturday, November 4 in Chestnut
Hill, Mass. The Owls are coming off a tough loss to No. 4/5 ranked
Hurricanes of Miami, 45-17.
The Temple defense held Miami to season lows in six offensive categories
including yards of total offense, 357. The Owls also caused four
turnovers including an interception by Terrance Leftwich of Ken Dorsey.
The pick ended Dorseys streak of passes without an interception at 193.
The Owls were the last team to intercept Dorsey as they did it in the
season finale of 1999. Leading the way for the Owls defense were Jamal
Wallace and LeVar Talley; both recorded 10 tackles.
The offense was not as effective although it did hold the ball for
almost 14 more minutes than Miami. Tanardo Sharps was held to 37 yards
rushing but did contribute with 103 kickoff return yards. The Owls were
plagued by penalties, 13 for 72 yards. Quarterback Devin Scott threw for
129 yards but was sacked six times.
Boston College earned its fifth win of the season this past week versus
the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers, 42-13. BC outgained Rutgers 325-115
yards on the ground. Sophomore William Green accounted for 223 yards and
two touchdownsa while senior Cedric Washington rushed for 94 yards and
one touchdown. Senior quarterback Tim Hasselbeck completed 11 of 18
passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns. Boston College is 4-1 at home
this season with its only loss to Virginia Tech.
