AMHERST, Mass. - Junior midfielder Katelyn Jones (Round Lake, N.Y.) scored the first three goals of the game to lead the University of Massachusetts (8-5/4-1 Atlantic 10 Conference) to a 6-0 victory over Temple University (8-6/1-3 A-10) Sunday afternoon, October 8 in women's soccer
action.
Jones gave UMass a 3-0 halftime lead, scoring at 6:55, 8:25 and 38:15 of
the first half. Junior midfielder Anna Morozuk (Croton Falls, N.Y.)
scored the Minutewomen's fourth goal at 66:04 followed by two goals by
freshman midfielder Amy Mink (West Chester, Ohio) at 81:52 and 88:39.
Junior forward Brooke Bartlett (Clifton Park, N.Y.). assisted on two of
Jones' goals and added another assist on Morozuk's score. Senior forward
Kara Green (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) set up Mink on her first goal while
freshman midfielder Kristin Mena (North Grafton, Mass.) did the same on
Mink's second goal.
Junior goalkeeper Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) made four saves for
UMass in the first half while freshman keeper Kelly Nigh (Seattle,
Wash.) made one in the second half for the Minutewomen who outshot the
Owls 21-7.
The Owls are in action again on Friday, October 13, as they host Xavier 4:00 p.m.
