Women's Basketball Rides off with Win Over Broncos 74-65

Lawrenceville, N.J. - Regan Apo (16) Stacey Smalls (11) and Lisa Jakubowicz were the double figure scorers as the Temple women's basketball team extended its record to 3-0 with a win at Rider 74-65 on November 27. The Owls led by as many as 24 points with 8:06 remaining before they were outscored 21-6 due in large part to some hot Rider three point shooting down the stretch.
As a team, Temple won the turnover battle forcing the Broncs into 22 turnovers while the Owls committed 17. Temple also held the edge in steals 14-6 and out-rebounded Rider 41-35. The Owls also made the most of points off turnovers (28-17) and second chance points (20-11).
Individually, Smalls had a game-high six assists, no turnovers and three steals to go along with her 11 points. Apo, a fellow sophomore and backcourt mate, dished out five assists in addition to her 16 points. Temple's rebounding leader was junior Athena Christoforakis who grabbed 11 boards and scored eight points in 21 minutes.
Tanya Cross led Rider with 17 points. Iris Beistline (12) and Rebecca Boteler (10) joined Cross in the double figure scoring column.
