Temple Women's Basketball Falls To La Salle, 72-63
2.12.00 | Women's Basketball
Philadelphia -- Despite a career afternoon by sophomore Lisa Jackubowicz, Temple fell to
La Salle, 72-63, Saturday, at The Liacouras Center. Jackubowicz led the Owls with a career-
high 26 points and 17 rebounds, setting a Liacouras Center record for most points and rebounds by a
Temple women's player. The previous record was 24 points and 15 rebounds set by Jen Ricco
in 1998.
The Owls kept the game close for much of the first half, but the Explorers broke open a
tie game by going on an 8-0 scoring run to take a 23-15 lead with nine minutes left. The
closest the Owls came to reaching La Salle in the first half was with a Jackubowicz layup
at 8:43 to bring them to within six. At the half, the Explorers led 39-28.
In the second half, Temple was able to cut the margin to six points at 13:02, but the
Explorers took over from there. Their largest lead came with 3:49 left when a La Salle
free throw put them ahead 68-51. Although Temple's Stacey Smalls hit a clean three-pointer
with five seconds to go, the Owls' three-game winning streak was snapped, 72-63.
La Salle was led by guard Suzanne Keilty who scored 15 points. Fellow guard Jen Zenszer
had 14 points and six rebounds.
With the loss, the Owls drop to 8-15 overall and 3-9 in the Atlantic 10. La Salle improves
to 9-14 overall and 4-8 in the conference. Temple is back in action Monday, February 14 to
host the St. Joseph's Hawks at home at 8:00 p.m.
