PHILADELPHIA -- Temple Athletic Director Dave O'Brien announced today the

resignation of women's basketball Coach Kristen Foley.

"Kristen has put a tremendous effort into our women's basketball program,"

O'Brien said. "She has coached with class and dignity. We want to thank

Coach Foley for all of her hard work and many contributions to our women's

basketball program and our athletic department."

"The won-loss record, quality of play, skill level, academic achievements

and recruited talent have significantly improved over the last five years,"

Foley said. "Overall, the academic and athletic credibility of the women's

basketball program is firmly in place. At this point, however, it is time

for me to move onto the next challenge in my life while wishing Temple

continued success."

Foley took over the Temple program at the start of the 1995 season. She

guided the Owls to a 45-93 record in her five seasons at the helm.
