Second Half Surge Lifts Temple Lacrosse Past Duquesne

4.16.00 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple Owls (7-5; 5-0) used a six goal explosion in the

second half to topple Duquesne, 15-7, today at Geasey Field.

Temple led 7-6 at halftime and used three goals in 17 seconds by Jen

Jefferson (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), Robin Keevan (Malvern, Pa./Great

Valley) and Kelly Ruch (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) to break open the

close game. Temple's defense shut down the Dukes in the second half allowing

just one goal with 5:29 to play.

Duquesne (6-3; 2-2) scored the first goal of the game by Kristen Harner

before the Owls stormed back with four of their own. The Dukes kept pace

with two goals from P.J. Harrision and another from Harner to trail 5-4. A

Meghan Hungate goal with 20 second left in the half brought the Dukes within

a goal at the break.

Impressively, Temple took the first half lead despite leading scorer Ruch

shutout in the first stanza. The Owls received scoring help from Keevan and

Jessica Yemm (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) who each finished with a

hat trick. Ruch, Jefferson and Deana Radcliffe (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen

Valley) finished with two each.

Temple will play their first road game late March when it travels to UMass

to wrap up Atlantic 10 play on Friday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m.
