PHILADELPHIA (April 25) - The Temple Owls fell, 12-8, to No. 11 Delaware today at
Geasey Field. The Owls (7-7) held a 6-3 halftime lead, but the Blue Hens
(12-3) stormed back with five straight second half goals.
Patience Synnestvedt (Bryn Athyn, Pa./Acad. of the New Church) and Deanna
Radcliffe (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) sparked Temple in the first
half with two goals each. After Temple took an early 2-0 lead, Delaware tied
the game, 2-2, on goals from Kate O'Connell and Brooke Mulligan. The Owls
then scored four straight for the 6-3 halftime lead.
Delaware's leading scorer Sarah Edwards scored the first of her three goals
at 27:33 of the second half as the Blue Hens rattled off five straight
scores to take the lead for good. O'Connell added two more in that run and
finished with a game-high four goals. Temple climbed within 8-7 on Jen
Jefferson's (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) score at 12:46, but the Blue Hens'
O'Connell answered right back at 11:41 to keep Delaware ahead.
The Owls return to action on Thursday to conclude their home slate against
city rival Penn at 3:30 p.m. on Geasey Field.
