Nittany Lions Upset Temple Lacrosse, 13-11

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 18 Temple Owls fell to unranked Penn State, 13-11,
today at Geasey Field. Patience Synnestvedt (Bryn Athyn, Pa./Acad. of the
New Church) led Temple with four goals.
Temple led 8-7 at the half. Synnestvedt scored all four of her goals in the
first half, including the Owls' first three scores. But the Lions roared
back with seven unanswered goals. Kate Affonsa (Springfield,
Pa./Springfield) started the comeback just before the break with a score at
1:43 in the first. Jenn Webb (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), Penn
State's leading scorer, had two goals, and Julie Tice (Arnold, Md./Severn
School) scored her third of the afternoon in the second half run.
The Owls made a last minute comeback. Trailing 13-9, Kelly Ruch
(Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) powered in for two scores with under a
minute to play but it was not enough.
Temple returns to action tomorrow to host Lafayette at 3:30 p.m. on Geasey
Field.
