Lacrosse Outlasts Lafayette, 8-5

PHILADELPHIA (April 6) - Temple's Kelly Ruch (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) led the

Owls with three goals and two assists as No. 18 Temple downed Lafayette,

8-5, today at Geasey Field.

Ruch scored three straight goals to open the second half and extend the

Owls' lead to 6-1. Lafayette would score four in the second and close within

7-5 with 52 seconds to play. Noelle Cebron (Yorktown, N.Y./Yorktown) added

an insurance goal with 44.2 seconds left to give the game's final margin.

Temple's Jen Jefferson (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) scored twice in the first

half for the Owls. Temple Goalie Iris Alvarado (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern)

stopped 10 Leopard shots.

Lafayette received contributions from five different players with Heather

McClelland adding to her team leading totals with a goal and an assist.

The Owls continue their seven game home stand against Virginia Tech on

Sunday at 12 noon on Geasey Field.
