Lacrosse Players Stein and Ruch Named Mid-Atlantic All-Americans

PHILADELPHIA (May 18) - Temple University lacrosse players Amy Stein (Boyertown,
Pa./Boyertown) and Kelly Ruch (Phoenixville, Pa./ Phoenixville) were named
2000 Mid-Atlantic Region first team All-Americans.
Stein, a senior, was the Owls' top defender gathering a team leading 60
groundballs and forcing a team best 39 caused turnovers. The Physical
Education major returned to action in 2000 after making a100 percent
recovery from a broken leg suffered just six games into the 1999 season.
Stein started all 18 games this season.
Ruch, also a senior, was Temple's top scorer with 62 goals. She added 19
assists for 81 points. The communications major recorded a single game-high
of 11 points against Virginia Tech, including nine goals. The 11 points was
tied for tops in the nation this year and second all-time in the Temple
record book, while her nine goals was tied for second in the nation and
third best in the Temple record book.
The Owls finished the 2000 season 9-9 overall and tied for first in the
Atlantic 10 with a 5-1 mark. Temple advanced to the Atlantic 10 Tournament
championship game before falling, 3-2, in overtime to Massachusetts.
