AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts senior Stephanie Pavlick

(Blue Bell, Pa.) scored two goals, including the game-winner 2:21 into

overtime, to lead UMass to a 3-2 victory over Temple in the Atlantic 10

Women's Lacrosse Championship played May 7 at Ruth J. Totman

Field on the campus of UMass.

UMass opened the scoring at the 16:27 mark of a tightly played first

half on Pavlick's first goal of the game. Temple responded when Jen

Jefferson (Annapolis, Md.) scored off a pass from sophomore Robin Keevan

(Malvern, Pa.) with 9:15 remaining in the first half.

Temple senior goaltender Iris Alvardo (Suffern, N.Y.) and UMass junior

goaltender Jen Nardi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) both made big saves

throughout the first half to keep the game low scoring. Alvarado

finished the half with four saves, while Nardi made nine stops.

The second half featured more tight defense. The score remained 1-1

until UMass freshman Lydia Robinson (Summit, N.J.) beat Alvardo with a

shot just under the crossbar. Senior Sara MacNabb (Baldwinsville, N.Y.)

assisted on the goal. Temple sent the game to overtime, tied 2-2, when

Jefferson netted her second goal of the game with one minute remaining

in regulation. Nardi finished the game with 17 saves, while Alvardo made

nine stops.
