Owls' Feathers Ruffled in 5-1 Defeat to Delaware Blue Hens in Women's Soccer Action

9.12.00 | Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple Owls women's soccer squad found themselves with an early lead but were, in the end, defeated by the Delaware Blue Hens 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon (9-12-00).

Temple forward Brenda Gore (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) found the back of the net just 2:14 into the game on an assist from captain Mary Mulvenna (Philadelphia/St. Hubert's). That would conclude Temple's offensive drive, as Delaware picked up the rest of the scoring.

Delaware freshman Fran Termini (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) got on the board first for the Blue Hens. Her goal came at 13:00. Sophomore forward Brittany Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Notre Dame (HS)) scored the next three goals to put Delaware ahead 4-1. Freshman Heather Connelly (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) added one more to finish the Owls off 5-1.

Temple goalkeeper Courtney Woytowicz (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) faced 12 shots. Late in the second half, Woytowicz faced a penalty kick, which she saved.

The Owls fall to 3-2-0 on their season. They remain at home to face Stony Brook on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 3:30 p.m.
