9.14.00 | Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's soccer posted another victory Thursday

afternoon with a 4-1 defeat of the Stony Brook Seawolves.

The Owls jumped out to an early lead after forward Julie Marx (Newark,

Del./Newark) slid the ball past Stony Brook goalie Renee Pelletier at

25:29. Junior Brook Cholaj recorded the assist. Neither Marx nor

Cholaj were finished scoring, though. The Owls led 1-0 at the midpoint

of the game.

The Seawolves struck early in the second half on an unassisted Beth

Arikian goal (48:57). Cholaj answered with the unassisted game-winning

goal at 68:04 to put Temple ahead for good 2-1.

Marx found the back of the net again at 74:09 with an assist from

sophomore Brenda Gore (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) for an

insurance goal. Cholaj, assisted by senior Emily Marx (Newark,

Del./Newark) would score once more just three minutes later (77:16) to

take the game 4-1.

Owls' goalkeeper Courtney Woytowicz (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland)

faced fifteen shots and made seven saves.

Temple now stands at 4-2-0 on the season, while Stony Brook falls to

3-3-1. The Owls' next home game will be Saturday, Sept. 16, at 1:00

p.m.
