Temple Women's Soccer Squad Overcomes One Goal Deficit En Route to Victory
9.17.00 | Women's Soccer
On a chilly Saturday, September 16, the Temple women's soccer team stayed
warm by defeating the Sacred Heart Pioneers 2-1 in double overtime.
Sacred Heart got on the board first by an unassisted Renee Trovillion
(Sussex, N.J./High Point) goal at 29:06. The Pioneers held that lead for all
but the final ten minutes of the contest.
Temple co-captain Brandi Wright (Olathe, Kan./Olathe North) came off the bench
and immediately made her presence known. She scored the game-tying goal at
80:51 with assists from sophomore Cameron Jennings (Richmond, Va./James River)
and senior Emily Marx (Newark, Del./Newark). At the end of regulation, the
score was knotted at one.
The score remained the same through the first overtime. Just minutes into
the second extra period, Wright found the back of the net again to put Temple
on top 2-1. Sophomore Brenda Gore (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) assisted
her.
The Owls outshot the Pioneers 18-8. Temple now stands at 5-2 on the season.
Their next game is Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 4:00 p.m. at Drexel University.
