Owls Women's Soccer Continues Winning Ways in 6-0 Shutout of St. Peter's College

Temple captain Brandi Wright (Olathe, Kan./Olathe North) and sophomore Liz
Frengs (Collingswood, N.J./Collingswood) each contributed two goals apiece en
route to leading the women's soccer team to a 6-0 rout of St. Peter's College Saturday
afternoon (9-24-00).
The Owls got on the board 1-0 just 13 minutes into the game on one of Frengs'
two goals. Senior Julie Marx (Newark, Del.,Newark) assisted her on what turned out to be the game-winning goal. Wright recorded her first goal of the day on a pass from Sophomore Brenda Gore (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) to
put Temple ahead 2-0. Wright followed that goal with another less than two minutes later as Temple went up 3-0. She was unassisted.
Sophomore Stephanie Godsell (Holland, Pa./Council Rock) finished out the
first half scoring with assistance from freshman Rachel Silver (Allentown,
Pa./Parkland) at 40:30. The Owls took their 4-0 lead into halftime.
Temple continued their scoring drive and great defense in the second period.
Frengs, unassisted, found the net again at 77:20 to put her squad up 5-0.
Freshman Amanda McFerren (Lancaster, PA./Hempfield) recorded her first career
goal on a pass from Gore at 82:12 to finish off St. Peter's 6-0.
Temple goalkeepers Courtney Woytowicz (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) and
Kristen Bakia (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) each made a save apiece in the
effort. The Owls outshot St. Peter's 31-5. Temple now improves to 7-2.
Their next contest will be at Temple Stadium on Tuesday, September 26, against
St. Joseph's at 4:00 p.m.
