9.3.00 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA - Despite outshooting the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 17-11, the Temple Owls Women's Soccer team dropped its home opener 1-0 at Temple Stadium Sunday afternoon.
The game featured a scoring stalemate until Lehigh freshman forward Kristin Roantree found the back of the net with just over a minute-and-a-half to go in the game. Her goal came at 88:21, and she was assisted by senior defenseman Michelle Kantor.
The Owls had two close calls midway through the game. Senior forward Brandi Wright (Olathe, Kan./Olathe North) and senior midfielder Mary Mulvenna (Philadelphia,/St. Hubert's) each took shots that were saved only by the crossbar.
The Owls fall to 1-1-0 on the season. Temple travels to Teaneck, N.J., to face the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 4:00 p.m.
