Temple Wins 3-0 Against FDU

TEANECK, NEW JERSEY - Temple won its match against Fairleigh Dickinson University, 3-0 September 6 at FDU Field in Teaneck. The Knights had several scoring opportunities thwarted by Temple sophomore keeper Courtney Woytowicz.
Temple got on the scoreboard quickly as senior forward Julie Marx headed a crossing pass from Liz Frengs at the 2:55 mark of the first period.
FDU had a season-best seven shots on goal in the first half including four by freshman forward Meggan Rodrique (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and two by classmate Lisa Del Conte (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional). FDU freshman keeper Catriona Skinner (North Vancouver, British Colombia/Argyle) saved nine shots but could not keep the Owls from finding the net.
Del Conte had her chance to score in the second half on a header from a crossing pass, but could not convert as her shot sailed over the goal. Freshman midfielder Kim Scrio (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) had two shots in the second half as did sophomore forward Kristin Kadir (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown/Mercer Community College).
Temple took advantage in the second half as Jeanette Hibbs slipped a pass to a streaking Brandi Wright for a breakaway goal at the 66:41 mark. Amanda McFerren finished the Temple scoring as she found the net in the 85th minute.
The Owls return to Temple Stadium to host the Niagara Purple Hawks Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1:00 p.m.
