10.2.01 | Softball
Allentown, Pa. (Sept. 28-30) - For the first time in school history, the Temple softball team won the annual Carol Weil Tournament. The Owls were a perfect 6-0 in the tournament and defeated Bloomsburg by a 6-0 score in the championship game behind a complete game shutout by Liz Naughton, who earned three victories over the weekend.
The tournament is named after former Owl Carole Weil, who died of leukemia while she was a student at Temple. All proceeds of the tournament go to scholarships for 3 high school players in the Allentown area.
Weil was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Hall of Softball Fame on Sunday September, 30, the day her alma mater won the tournament championship.
