LIMITED EDITION BOBBLEHEAD DOLL GIVE-AWAY AT TEMPLE -- UCONN FOOTBALL GAME

11.15.01 | Football

PHILADELPHIA -- Joining in the recent collectible craze that has swept the country, Temple University will offer a limited edition "Hooter the Owl" Bobblehead Doll to the first 2, 500 children under the age of 14 at the Temple football game vs. the University of Connecticut on November 24th. The "Hooter the Owl" Bobblehead features the Temple University Owl mascot wearing a football jersey and carrying a football, and is sponsored by Pepsi.

Bobbleheads, the hottest collectible in sports, are miniature ceramic dolls with heads that bobble. They can be traced back to the 1960s and 1970s, when waggle-headed dolls made of papier-mâché were popular items in stadium gift shops. Bobbleheads have nostalgic appeal, limited-edition status, and tremendous collectible value. Similar to other sports memorabilia, bobblehead dolls are traded and often sold in on-line auctions.

The unique collectible was scheduled to be given out on September 15th, the original date for the Temple -- UConn game. When the game was postponed until November 24th in the wake of the terrorist attacks, the Hooter Bobblehead giveaway was rescheduled as well.

The Temple vs. University of Connecticut game will be held at Franklin Field, 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 24th. The original tickets for the Temple-UConn game dated September 15th will be honored at the gate; for fans holding these tickets there is no need to exchange them.

Fans looking to purchase tickets for the game can do so by calling TicketMaster at (215) 336-2000, online at ticketmaster.com, or at any TicketMaster outlet.
