TEMPLE'S CROATIAN DUO RANKED #8 AND #11 IN THE ITA EASTERN REGION

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple sophomores Danira Penic (Split, Croatia/Valdmir Nazor) and Lara Ercegovic (Split, Croatia/Valdmir Nazor) of the Temple University women's tennis team are ranked #8 and #11 respectively in singles play according to the ITA Eastern Regional rankings that were published today, December 14, 2001. The duo also received a #2 ranking in doubles play.

In singles action this fall, Penic is 8-3 overall including a singles victory in the Flight A bracket of the Dartmouth Invitational. Penic also advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Eastern Regional Championships held in October. Ercegovic is 9-4 overall including a singles victory of the flight A bracket of the Brown Invitational. At the Eastern Regional Championships, Ercegovic advanced to the final 16.

The doubles team is 5-2 overall after advancing to the final round of the Eastern Region Championships before losing to the Old Dominion pair of Nataly Cahana and Ana Radelijevic 8-4.
