Lacrosse Beats Richmond, Ends Losing Streak

PHILADELPHIA (Mar. 24) - The Temple lacrosse team (3-2) shook off a two game losing streak and a first half deficit to beat Richmond (0-4) 11-6 on March 24 at Geasey Field.

Early on it appeared the Owls were suffering from arachnophobia as the Spiders jumped out to a 4-3 halftime lead. In the second half, Temple outscored Richmond 8-2 as sophomore Deanna Radcliffe scorched the Spiders for four, second-half goals. Radcliffe led all scorers with five goals for the game. Fellow sophomore Jessica Yemm added two goals while juniors Robin Keevan and Jen Jefferson notched two goals apiece and junior Noelle Cebron added two assists to round out the Temple scoring. Owls' goalie Sheena Oommen recorded 10 saves for the home team.

Brooke Garnett and Carrie Aitken led the Spiders in scoring with two goals each. Jessica Popham (1 goal) and Lacy Pica (1 goal) also scored for Richmond.

The Owls will next face the University of Virginia on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. The home game against La Salle, which was postponed on Wednesday, March 21, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m.
