Softball Owls Drop Three, Win One In Missouri Invitational

The Temple women's softball team traveled to Columbia, Missouri last weekend for the Missouri Invitational Tournament.
The Owls opened with a tough 2-1 loss to the host Tigers on Friday afternoon. Lynsey Grace and Andrea Horton scored in the fifth inning on a pinch hit double by Ashley Caudil to give Temple a 2-1 lead. Missouri scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the win away from the Owls.
Temple again fell short, losing 2-1 to the University of Pittsburgh in the second game of the tournament. Alexis Gary hit a home run in the seventh inning to put the Owls on the board.
Temple's offensive struggled in a 9-2 loss to the University of Missouri on Saturday afternoon. Kendra Navarro had two of the Owls four hits in the loss.
The Owls regrouped and defeated the University of Pittsburgh 5-0 on Saturday night. Temple jumped on the Panthers early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Several Owls had multi-hit performances. Katie Spencer was 3-for-3 with a double and Martha Serrato was 2-for-4 with a double. Katie Menning and Andrea Horton also had two hits each.
The Owls ended the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Pitt on Sunday morning. Katie Weigle started the Owls four inning rally with a lead off base hit. Weigle scored on a base hit by winning pitcher Bari Lynn Pflueger. Pflueger scored the Owls second run of the inning on a triple by Ashley Caudil.
