PHILADELPHIA (Mar. 31) - The Temple lacrosse team (3-3) took on the 10th ranked Virginia Cavaliers on March 31 at Geasey Field and the Owls came out on the short side of a 17-8 final score.
Temple knotted the score at 1 when sophomore Deanna Radcliffe scored a goal at 23:20 in the first half. From that point it was mostly Cavaliers as Virginia went on an 8-2 scoring binge to hold a 9-3 halftime lead. The second half was much like the first, the teams traded early goals and then Virginia took control. The Owls did score five goals in the second half but the Cavaliers scored eight to produce the final margin of victory.
Jen Jefferson led the Owls in scoring with three goals. Jessica Yemm, Patience Synnestvedt, Liz Frengs, Robin Keevan and Radcliffe scored a goal each for the home team.
The Owls will next go on the road to face Penn State on Tuesday, April 3 at 3:00 p.m. Temple returns home to play Ohio State on Friday, April 6. Game time is also 3:00 p.m.
