3.5.01 | Softball
The Temple softball team opened its spring break on Monday with two victories.
The Owls scored three runs on a double by Bari Lynn Pflueger in the first inning against the University of Central Michigan and never looked back. Temple scored again in the seventh inning to go ahead 4-1. Kendra Navarro, Katie Weigle, and Katie Spencer each had base hits during the inning. The Owls defense fought off a two run rally by UCM in the seventh inning to defeat the Chippewas 4-3. Pflueger registered her third victory of the season. Liz Naughton relieved Pflueger in the fifth inning and earned the save.
Temple's success continued with a 5-1 victory over Michigan State. The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Owls answered right back, in the third, with five runs on five hits. Navarro, Weigle, and Spencer again led Temple's offensive attack. Each had a base hit and scored a run in the victory. Naughton pitched seven strong innings for the Owls.
