Softball: Owls Extend Streak To Seven With Weekend Sweep Of Explorers

PHILADELPHIA (Apr. 2) - The Temple women's softball team swept LaSalle in a three-game weekend series to extend their win-streak to seven games. The weekend sweep of the Explorers raises the Owls' record to 16-17 (A-10, 5-1).
On Saturday, the Owls took a doubleheader 6-4 and 5-2 (extra-innnings). Winning Pitcher Bari Lynn Pflueger (7-6) in a complete game performance allowed eight hits, five strikeouts and walked one. Also Pflueger contributed from the plate going 3-4 with 3 RBI's. In the second game, Temple's winning pitcher Liz Naughton (8-3, ERA 2.03) gave up two runs in the first and held the Explorers scoreless the rest of the way as the Owls scored 3 runs in the top of the 9th to win in extra innings 5-2.
On Sunday the Owls winning pitcher Bari Lynn Pflueger (8-6. ERA 1.57) hurled a four hit complete game shutout. Temple scored nine runs in the top of the six to extend their win streak to seven games. The Owls offensive attack produced 9 runs on 11 hits. Temple were led by freshman Lynsey Grace 2-4,3 RBI's (.280 batting average) and pitcher Pflueger helped her cause with 2-3 hitting performance.
The Owls (16-17,5-1 A-10) will next visit Princeton on Wednesday in a Doubleheader starting time 2:30 p.m.
