Katie Spencer And Liz Naughton Earn A-10 Softball All Championship Team Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Fellow Temple sophomores, second basemen Katie Spencer and pitcher Liz Naughton earned Atlantic 10 Conference All-Championship team honors.

Spencer had 4 RBI's and two hits in three games in the tournament. She hails from Escondido, California and graduated from San Pasqual High School. She was a key factor in the Owls 5-0 victory over St.Joseph's.

Naughton, is from Olyphant, Pennsylvania and graduated from Mid-Valley Secondary Center.She had a 1-1 record in the championship tournament. She pitched 13 innings, allowing two earned runs, one shutout (St. Joseph's 5-0 opening round win), allowed eight total hits, while striking out ten batters and allowing just two walks. She has allowed only two earned runs in the last 48 innings pitched.

Temple entered the A-10 Championship as the number two seed. The Owls won the their first round game over St.Joseph's 5-0, lost to eventual Atlantic 10 Champions Massachusetts 6-0 and were eliminated by fourth seeded Rhode Island 2-1 in the semifinals. Temple finished the season with a 29-26 record overall, the second most wins in the school's history behind the 1991 team with 31 wins.
